Associate Professor Sumit Raniga and the MQ Health Translational Orthopaedic Research Team hosted Professor Thomas Grupp (Principle Expert Engineer Research and Development; Scientific Director of Aesculap) and his team of Engineers and Surgeons from the Department of Orthopaedics and Biomechanical Engineering at the University of Munich and Aesculap at the MQ Health Translational Orthopaedic Research Lab.
They have just kicked off a 3 year collaboration with Aesculap, the University of Munich and the University of Western Ontario, to design, build and validate the most advanced in vitro cadaveric knee simulator. This simulator will have a significant impact on Knee Replacement Prosthesis design, preoperative planning and surgical implantation. Which in turn will improve patients’ lives. Associate Professor Raniga and his Team have received a research grant of AUD550K for this project.
