Part 8 – TSAOG Orthopaedics & Spine
A/Prof Sumit Raniga began his ASES and SESA North American Traveling Fellowship at Columbia Orthopedics & New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the historic home of Professor Charles S. Neer, widely regarded as the father of modern shoulder surgery. The Fellowship concluded at TSAOG Orthopaedics & Spine, the centre of Professor Steve Burkhart, a pioneer of arthroscopic shoulder surgery whose innovations have significantly advanced the field.
TSAOG is also associated with Professor Charles A. Rockwood and Professor David P. Green, editors of the influential reference Rockwood and Green’s Fractures in Adults, to which A/Prof Raniga has contributed a chapter.
During the Fellowship, A/Prof Raniga had the privilege of presenting Translational research to Professor Burkhart and the TSAOG shoulder and elbow surgery team. He also gained valuable hands-on experience in theatre and the surgical skills lab under the guidance of Dr Rob Hartzler and colleagues. The experience provided unique insights into advanced surgical techniques and research applications in shoulder and elbow surgery.
