Inaugural North American Traveling Fellowship Award, Rothman Orthopaedics at Thomas Jefferson University

A/Prof Sumit Raniga has been honoured as the inaugural recipient of the ASES (American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons) and SESA (Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia) North American Traveling Fellowship Award 2024. This prestigious award allowed him to represent SESA at leading North American centres of excellence in shoulder and elbow surgery.

Part 5 – Rothman Orthopaedics Institute at Thomas Jefferson University

A/Prof Sumit Raniga visited the Rothman Orthopaedics Institute in Philadelphia, a world leader in orthopaedics consistently ranked among the nation’s best. Renowned for combining clinical excellence with a strong research focus, Rothman Orthopaedics has maintained a leadership position as the healthcare system shifts from volume-based to value-based care, investing millions annually into outcomes research. The Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at Rothman and Thomas Jefferson University is recognised as one of the premier programs in the United States.

During the visit, A/Prof Raniga had the privilege of learning from the Shoulder and Elbow Team, including Professor Mark Lazarus, Professor Joseph A. Abboud, MD FAAOS, Professor Surena Namdari, Professor Charles Getz, Professor Luke Austin, Dr Daniel Davis, and Associate Professor Andrew Kuntz. He also presented Translational research and shared experiences with the team.

A/Prof Raniga expressed his gratitude for their collective generosity and expertise and looks forward to many years of friendship and collaborative research aimed at improving patient outcomes.
