A/Prof Sumit Raniga has been honoured as the inaugural recipient of the ASES (American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons) and SESA (Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia) North American Traveling Fellowship Award 2024. This prestigious award allowed him to represent SESA at leading North American centres of excellence in shoulder and elbow surgery.
Part 2 – Johns Hopkins Medicine and Johns Hopkins Hospital
A/Prof Sumit Raniga represented the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia (SESA) at Johns Hopkins University, America’s first private research university founded in 1876 and a pioneer in modern medical education and research. The School of Medicine is recognised globally for excellence in clinical care, research, and education, while Johns Hopkins Hospital has a rich history of innovation, including the development of medical traditions such as rounds, residents, and house staff.
During the visit, A/Prof Raniga had the privilege of exchanging knowledge and experience with Associate Professor Uma Srikumaran, Professor Edward McFarland, and their Clinical Fellows, Residents, and Research Fellows. He expressed gratitude for their generosity, guidance, and time, highlighting the visit as a valuable opportunity for professional collaboration and learning.
