Inaugural North American Traveling Fellowship Award, Mayo Clinic

A/Prof Sumit Raniga has been honoured as the inaugural recipient of the ASES (American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons) and SESA (Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia) North American Traveling Fellowship Award 2024. This prestigious award allowed him to represent SESA at leading North American centres of excellence in shoulder and elbow surgery.

Part 4 – Mayo Clinic

A/Prof Sumit Raniga visited the Mayo Clinic, globally recognised as one of the leading medical institutions. Known for its patient-first philosophy, the Mayo Clinic combines compassion, respect, and communication with cutting-edge research, innovation, and clinical excellence. The institution attracts highly trained physicians and medical experts who are leaders in their fields and involved in pioneering research, clinical trials, and education, training the next generation of healthcare leaders through its medical school and residency and fellowship programs.

During the visit, A/Prof Raniga had the privilege of learning from and sharing knowledge with the world renowned Shoulder and Elbow faculty, including Professor Bernard Morrey, Professor Shawn O’Driscoll, Professor Joaquin Sanchez-Sotelo, Professor John Sperling, Professor Mark Morrey, Dr Jon Barlow, and Dr Christopher Camp. He also presented Translational research and shared this experience alongside his SECEC Traveling Fellows colleagues, Dr Doruk Akgun and Dr Maristella Saccomanno.

A/Prof Raniga expressed gratitude to Professor Joaquin Sanchez-Sotelo and his colleagues for their generosity, guidance, and time, describing the team as inspirational leaders in shoulder and elbow surgery.
