The American Journal of Sports Medicine is one of the most influential scientific journals in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. Associate Professor Raniga and his colleagues studied and identified the most reliable method of measuring bone loss in unstable shoulders which was published in the November 2021 issue.
Preoperative quantification of bone loss has a significant effect on surgical decision making and patient outcomes. Various measurement techniques for calculating glenoid bone loss have been proposed in the literature. To date, no studies had directly compared measurement techniques to determine which technique, if any, is the most reliable. This work will make a significant difference to surgical decision making and improving patient outcomes.
Associate Professor Raniga was invited by the editors of the American Journal of Sports Medicine to discuss their research and findings. Furthermore, he was profiled as the featured author in the November 2021 issue of this prestigious publication.
